This is J.R. He passed away on Nov. 1st 1999, after a long battle with skin cancer to his nose. He was 16 years old. He was a mostly Siamese mix that showed up as a stray years ago. He was so cute, my husband and I couldn't turn him away. He loved to cuddle in bed, but as he got older and gained a lot of weight, he usually had his "pick" of where to sleep on the bed. He was a brave kitty up until the end.
Dr. Bob Weedon of The College Road Animal Hospital here in Wilmington did all he could, as well as Dr. Waddle in of the Veterinary Specialty Hospital in Durham N.C. J.R. made many trips there for cryogenic treatments to his nose. All, in all, it did help keep him active for a few more years.
I appreciate the compassion and professionalism of these two doctors. It's amazing the techniques they can use today. J.R. has his own special place in the yard, with lots of sun and flowers. We miss him too, but know he's at the Rainbow Bridge waiting for us.
